The best cycle photography from around the world
From racing to urban lines, road cycling to mountain biking, here’s some of our favourite cycle photos from the Photocrowd ‘Cycling’ photography contest
1. Pork Hill
Simon Stuart-Miller captures the Tour of Britain 2014 at Pork Hill.
2. No Cycling
“I was about to take a shot of the shelter when I noticed out of the corner of my eye the boy about to cycle past. The ‘no cycling’ warning and the flamboyant wheelie completed the shot for me.”
3. The call of the mountain
“Montain bike descent from Gubno in the Karavanke Alps, Slovenia. The descent took place along the ridge with some of the most beautiful scenery in the background – the Julian Alps. Mist was rising from the valley, the light was perfect.”
4. Cycling at U Bein Bridge
A woman crossing U Bein Bridge, Myanmar, at dawn.
5. Man and machine
“A man with his bicycle in Kolkata, India. This was shot on a waterlogged street in the middle of a summer monsoon night. The colour cast came from the sodium vapour of an overhead street light. The man was walking slowly with his bicycle, struggling to pull it through the knee-deep water.”
6. Porta Nuova
Carla Marinelli captured this urban scene.
7. Fun moments
This photograph of boys playing was taken in rural Bengal, India.
8. Leading the pack
The wet and rainy road race at the Glasgow Commonwealth Games 2014.
9. Journey in the fog
A man travels by bicycle on a village path in western Bengal.
