Horseplay
Where: Hambleden Estate, Henley-On-Thames, Oxfordshire
When: 12 March
How much: £25
This is a one-day trail running adventure race from the Rat Race team. It will be held over 10km and the Horseplay name fives a clue to the nature of the obstacles at this lovely pile on the Thames. The gun goes off and you head across the show field and the first fences and jumps. Then it’s into the woods, up and down rolling hills, through fields and over fences and jumps. Obstacles litter your path such as the Grand National, the Tote, Sleepy Hollow (set in the exact place where the Hollywood blockbuster of the same name was filmed!), the Stables and the Steeplechase – you get the picture. The Horseplay event is designed for absolutely any reasonable sole runner to complete. The onus is on fun but this is also a serious challenge, involving off-road terrain.
