Fancy Geocaching?

News — By OAGmag on March 16, 2011 at 2:28 pm

Take the family to Grizedale Forest Park in the Lake District: April 30th & 1st May

Garmin is supporting GPS Training to launch their new concept in outdoor recreation, suitable for all the family alongside the Forestry Commission, Ordnance Survey and the YHA. The event will require a mixture of GPS, map & compass skills and help develop team building with free getting started GPS workshops.

The weekend offers a rewarding day out for adults, juniors and mini-cachers. The event will use checkpoints, caches (Traditional, Micro, Virtual and Wireless) all mixed into multi-cache trails with prizes in all classes.

The event will highlight Opencaching.com Garmin’s new Geocaching website and the use of the Garmin ‘Chirp’, Garmin’s wireless Geocaching beacon which is compatible with the new generation of Garmin handheld GPS devices.

There will also be a number of Garmin Geocaching starter kits available to win with classes for male, female & mixed teams on each trail with free wireless compatible GPS loans available.

Pre-booking is available online - save over 50% on event parking and 10% on local YHA accommodation, or get a loan on the day.

Prices:

Adults £10pp, Juniors & Mini-cachers £5pp (Adults (over 18) Juniors (under 18yrs), Juniors over 16 can compete in Adult class with consent. Juniors & Mini-cachers (under 8yrs) must be acc by an adult)
