Bushcraft for Kids
News — By Admin on January 25, 2012 at 1:17 pmGot an outdoors-lover running around a home? Think its time your kid learnt how to scavenge for food in case they ever find themselves going all Into The Wild? Or maybe you just fancy a week to yourself? Then get them booked in to PGL’s latest offering – a Bushcraft holiday.
Over a seven-night stay at 17th century Beam House in Devon, 10-16 year olds get to go all OAG as they learn how build shelters, find food and keep themselves warm.
Using natural resources from surrounding fields and woodlands, they’ll identify what’s safe to eat, learn how to filter water and build fires, as well as camping out in shelters they’ve made themselves. At the end of the week they’ll be awarded with the soon-to-be much coveted PGL Survival Skills Award (along with some pretty muddy clobber no doubt!)
Along with these Bushcrafts basics, half their time will be spent on activities such as abseiling, high rope courses and body boarding. The holiday is available for 10-16 year olds and coast £559 including all food (not all of its collected from the wild!), dorm accommodation and supervision. You never know, they might come back the next Bear Grylls…
