Gregory Freia backpack review

Gear, Packs — By Outdoor Adventure Guide on May 16, 2012 at 10:09 am

Gregory Freia rucksack - RRP £80

Designed specifically for women, this includes Gregory’s flexible Kinetic FTS Suspension system. The padded split-channel shoulder straps offer great comfort and there are two small elasticated mesh pockets that are useful for gels, etc.

The padded waistband has two pockets – one mesh and one rainproof. For its light weight this daysack is literally packed with ergonomically-designed features – no stone has been left unturned and there is almost something for everything (but perhaps too much for some).

With security in mind, the main compartment has an unusual back-to-front lid fastening and there is an internal zip pocket on the underside of the lid which is ideal for valuables.

There is another external zipped pocket in the lid and two mesh side pockets. The front slip pocket can accommodate a helmet or a chunky midlayer.

EXTERNAL

  • One main compartment – ‘back-to-front’ top access
  • One zipped pocket in the top of the lid with key clip
  • Large slip pocket to the front with adjustable strap closure
  • Two large mesh side pockets
  • Two ice axe/pole loops
  • Adjustable chest strap
  • Split-channel padded shoulder straps (lighter and more breathable) with elasticated straps for bladder pipe and two small but useful mesh pockets to take gels
  • Split-channel padded waistband with two zip pockets (one mesh, one rain-proof). Also includes integrated compression strap
  • Two Z-compression straps each side
  • H20 compatible
  • Grab handle

INTERNAL

  • One elasticated slip pocket for bladder
  • One security zip pocket on the inside of the lid

n ancient times, the backpack was used as a means to carry the hunter’s larger game and other types of prey and as a way of easier transport for other materials. In the cases of larger hunts, the hunters would dismember their prey and distribute the pieces of the animal around, each one packing the meat into many wrappings and then into bags which they placed on to their backs.-;,*
