Jansport Catalyst Rucksack review
Gear, Packs — By Outdoor Adventure Guide on May 16, 2012 at 9:39 amJansport Catalyst backpack - RRP £79.99
Jansport designed this pack for the gruelling 8,000m challenge race in the US. Smaller and lighter than all of the other sacks on test here, it’s ideal for adrenaline sports such as running, biking or adventure racing.
The shoulder straps hug the body nicely and the lightweight honeycombed cushioning offers excellent breathability. It has two elasticated bands to stop a bladder pipe from flapping around, and a little mesh pouch for gels, etc.
The waistband has two generous zipped pockets big enough for a quick snack, and the handy bladder compartment is easy to access by a zip in the back padding. All the zip pulls have well-designed loops for quick access, even with a gloved hand.
Inside there is one main zipped compartment; on the outside there is a smaller zipped pocket on the front, next to a stretchy mesh pocket, which is ideal for a hat or a map.
A bungee cord offers an additional stowaway option and cinches the sack a little tighter if necessary along with the two z-compression straps that sit above two mesh pockets. A big hit!
