Arc’teryx Beta Shell Jacket
Gear, Jackets — By Outdoor Adventure Guide on June 11, 2012 at 2:08 pmArc’teryx Beta £340
An excellent quality jacket made with a very good quality fabric, which is what you would expect at this price. Good sleeve length and shaped, giving that extra bit of hand protection in harsh wintery weather. Pit zips are good with waterproof taped seams. Strangely though, the main front zip looks to be an ordinary toothed zip although Arc’teryx claim it is waterproof. It could be that we got a prototype version of the jacket and not an actuall production sample. Long pull cords on all closures, ideal if you are wearing gloves. Microfibre neck protector at rear and base of neck is a nice touch and really adds to the quality and comfort of the jacket. The hood is a generous fit and will take a helmet, it’s just a pity it doesn’t rollaway.
FABRIC GORE-TEX
FIT Good stylish and feminine OAG Likeys Really great quality fabric and beautifully made. Long zip pulls
OAG No Likeys Only one fault; the hood does not rollaway or stow, which means you have a hood flapping around in the wind and getting snagged up in your rucksack when taking it on and off
Overall This would be my jacket of choice for spring weather. Only marked down because of the hood.
