Hanwag Drifter Mid Lady GTX £145
First impressions: The only mid shoe on test here offering good ankle support and light weight. Because of the ‘mid’ style this gives potential for 3 seasons use in the UK rather than simply spring and summer. The sole has a rocker shape to it suggests a shoe which will help roll the foot forward and is very agressively lugged at the front with reinforced heel for stability.
Men’s and Women’s available
FABRIC Sportvelours / Air-Mesh and Gore-Tex XCR
FIT Light and comfortable. Firm footbed
SOLE Vibram Planet
FOOTBED Hanwag foot comfort
OAG Likeys The tongue is integral with the rest of the boot which stops mud and loose chips from getting inside
OAG No Likeys I would prefer eyelets for the lacings rather than fabric loops, because when these get very muddy the laces can difficult to get to remove and replace. Equally the mesh finish. I used a soft bruch to remove crud which worked did the job. The styling is a bit dated for my taste
Overall A good quality low profile boot with integral well-padded tongue. Stiff rolling footbed which aids a speedy walking action
