Boardmasters festival set to light up summer with top music and surf action

The renowned Boardmasters festival is the highlight of the summer for outdoor sports and music fans, and the 2017 edition is set to be better than ever

Inspired by the freedom, adventure and creativity of surfing and music, Boardmasters was born in 1981 and brings the best of surf and music culture together on the Cornish coast. It’s a whirlwind explosion of radical surfing by day and extravagant partying by night, with generous doses of care-free summer vibes, camping, yoga, skateboarding and BMX action on the side.

From August 9-13 the 5-day event will run over two stunning Cornish locations: the UK surfing mecca Fistral Beach, where World Surf League Qualifying Series competitions will take place; and Watergate Bayarguably the most stunning live music venue in the country.

With headline music acts including Two Door Cinema Club, Jamiroquai and ALT-J joining the likes of Maximo Park, Chase & Status, Slaves, Jake Bugg, Andy C, Patrick Topping and others Boardmasters is set to truly rock. The huge lineup of stages and venues mean you’ll find something to your taste at any time, no matter what sort of music you’re into.

On the surfing side, well-known rippers Ben Skinner, Luke Dillon, Adam Griffith, Lucy Campbell and Peony Knight will shred some of the UK’s best waves in front of an all-time crowd, while free surfers will have more than ample opportunity to sneak off and find a few waves for themselves. Groms won’t be left out either, with coaching available from professional surf schools throughout the festival.

There’s a mind-boggling amount of fun stuff to do aside from the main events too, with everything from beach yoga sessions to fine dining at The Wild Oyster (hosted by Lee Skeet, one of the most exciting chefs in the South-West), as well as optional upgrades to stylish VIP glamping accommodation and even hot tubs and spa treatments!

Tickets are available for the whole festival, the weekend, or even just for single days if you’re in the area. To find out more or get your tickets to one of the hottest events of the summer head over to the Boardmasters website.
