An ode to wilderness in the words of John Muir

The Scottish Highlands are one of the wildest places in the UK. Here’s a little reminder why that’s important

Scots-born John Muir was arguably the founder of the modern conservation movement. Naturalist, author and environmental philosopher, he was passionate about wild places – he explored them, wrote about them and campaigned to protect them. His writing is so ubiquitous among the outdoor sports community that whether you know it or not you’ve probably come across it somewhere – for example the famous line “the mountains are calling and I must go” is a Muir quote.

This short film from the Scottish Highlands based on his writing is an ode to wilderness, and how it calls to us all.
